We identified the needy infrastructure part and utilised the funds for the improvement of the same. As far as the quality reforms are concerned, we recruited a full-time Education Co-ordinator (teacher) – the role of Education Co-ordinator is to implement the following miscellaneous projects in the school, during the school academic sessions; he/she helps the present teaching staff in the school to further holistically work on the student’s overall improvement. The EC acts as a sensitized human catalyst who holistically improves the environment of the school.

Project Name: Learn to Read

Objective / Purpose:

  • To improve children’s basic level of Gujarati reading & writing skills in primary grades
  • To give equal learning opportunity to all weak students for improving reading writing skills
  • To incorporate ‘Fun with play’ teaching methods
  • To create joyful and enjoyable teaching learning environment for the children
  • To monitor learning outcomes of children closely

Brief introduction:

  • Students of grade 2 to 5 are the main target audience
  • Daily 45 minutes teaching sessions of each grade every day
  • Level based teaching
  • Maximum use of defined teaching methods and activities with appropriate TLMs
  • Pre-test and post-test of children conducted to gauge learning level improvement

  • The teacher will layout a brief plan for execution of a “Math Fair” or “Math Mela”

Project Name: Reading Corners (English and Gujarati language)

Objective / Purpose:

  • To instil the love for reading through early age
  • The idea of having these corners is to make reading material easily available in one place for the students
  • Students get a variety of small story books and picture books in both English and Gujarati language

Brief introduction:

  • The students are asked to bring newspapers or magazine or old text books first, the teacher also would bring a few reading materials
  • 5 – 6 books of early English reading with more pictures and a few words are kept in this corner
  • A few books on short stories in gujarati are also kept in this corner
  • The teacher can conduct story telling sessions alongside of this corner and also involve elder students to be a part of reading

Objective / Purpose:

  • To develop scientific temperament in students at an early age
  • To help students see various aspects of science subject in a playful way
  • To make activity material for science available to the students

  • The teachers will make and display various charts and models and place in the school in a dedicated space
  • Encourage elder students to develop their own science puzzles and charts
  • Explain the importance of science in everyday life and focus on conceptual clarity

  • Here the necessary stationery material like pencil / eraser / sharpener is made available for the students to buy on their own – when required
  • Ram Dukan Is the self service store, where the child is supposed to honestly take material and keep / deposit equivalent money there
  • Ram Dukan is the non-profit activity only for the school's students managed by students with the teachers guidance, in order to not just preach Honesty but Practice Honesty

Objectives / Purpose :-

  • To encourage independent decision making regarding money spending among
  • Time and resource management is also the vital objective or purpose of the bachat bank activity
  • To spread the knowledge of financial literacy in the students/school
  • To motivate students and promote the habit of savings in the students

Brief Introduction:-

  • Bachat bank is run by the students for the students with the help of teachers
  • Voluntarily students can chose to deposit money in the bachat bank
  • The children's save money from own daily pocket expenses given by the parents and deposited in own account in own bal bachat bank in the school, and can also withdraw
  • Once the amount exceeds 500 Rs the actual bank account can be started in a nearby Bank in the village or town with the help of teacher

Through Bachat Bank concept, the students will learn:-

  • The importance of savings
  • Process of banking
  • How bank’s give interest on savings
  • Accounting and reporting

  • This corner is made and maintained by the teacher with the help of students
  • Necessary first aid material and medicines to be made available in this corner
  • Initially the use of this corner will be done in teacher supervision and then a few students will be made in-charge for this corner
INCULCATING BASIC HEALTH ETIQUETTES IN THESE STUDENTS

 

Project name: Junk Corner

Objectives / Purpose:-

  • To encourage the students to use waste material and create things out of it
  • To help students understand what is reusable and its importance
  • To make students think creatively and come up with various best out of waste ideas

Brief Introduction:-

  • The teacher brings in some waste material like empty cans, bottle caps, etc and also asks students to bring similar waste material
  • Initially the teacher will make some models / craft / experiments from these waste material and encourage students to do the same
  • The teacher will also show videos of science activities that can be done using waste material (ArvindGupta toys etc)

Project name: Kuch Khoya-Kuch Paya

Brief Introduction:-

  • This corner is maintained for students to deposit the lost and found material / things
  • The students will make a note of what was found and who deposited it in this corner
  • The found items will be announced in the assembly and the rightful owner of the same can give identification to the teacher and obtain it back
  • Honesty, being helpful, are few moral values that get inculcated in students

Objectives / Purpose:-

  • To engage the students in a daily life base activities in the school apart from the class room
  • To develop basic values in the students

If something valuable is found by students and they return the same in this corner, the teacher must appreciate the child in assembly and encourage.

Project name: Aaj ka Gulab / Aaj ka Dipak

Objectives / Purpose:-

  • To motivate students for cleanliness with good dressing in the everyday life
  • To explain importance of cleanliness and its benefits in everyday life
  • To make the birthday boy / girl feel important and celebrate the day

Brief Introduction:-

  • Every day the teacher will announce the name of the best neatly dressed child
  • The identified students will be given a tag and their name will also be put on the notice board for the particular day
  • This motivates other students to be neatly dressed and created a healthy competitive spirit

Project name: Akshaypatra

Objectives / Purpose:-

  • To demonstrate the concept of helping others
  • To make students understand the importance of food and also that we must be sensitive towards birds and take care of it in possible ways

Brief Introduction:-

  • The Akshaypatra can be put at any one of the place of the school
  • Class-wise of specifically roll-no. wise students can bring a few grains on each day and place it in the Akshaya patra box
  • A few students or a team of students must be made responsible for the regular functioning of this corner

Project name: Medicinal Plants Garden

Objective / Purpose:

  • To help students understand the importance of medicinal plants and their uses
  • To show students the ease of growing medicinal plants

Brief Introduction:

  • A small area of roughly 4x4 feet is quarantined and made appropriate for growing shrubs / plants
  • Commonly used plants with medicinal properties are brought to school by the teachers;

  • Aloe Vera
  • Students are encouraged to take care of these plants day-to-day and also they can grow the same at their home too
